Jim received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Vanderbilt University in 1983 and his J.D. from South Texas College of Law in 1991. Prior to joining the Dameron Burgin Law Firm in the fall of 2007, Jim was a shareholder with Sheehy, Serpe & Ware, P.C., a litigation firm located in Houston, Texas. Jim has over 15 years of experience representing hospitals, doctors, nursing homes and psychiatric facilities in medical malpractice defense litigation. Some of the clients that Jim has represented include: Texas Medical Liability Trust, Charter Medical Corp., Magellan Health Services, Inc., HCA, St. Paul Insurance Co., American Health Care Indemnity, Inc., Farmer’s Insurance Co., Team Health, Inc., Community Health Services, Inc. and Boston Medical Group Jim is a member of the State Bar of Texas, and a fellow in the Texas Bar Foundation. Jim is licensed to practice law in the State of Texas. He is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court in the Southern District of Texas. Jim is “AV” rated by Martindale-Hubble. He is currently not licensed to practice in North Carolina, but application for North Carolina license is pending while practicing in North Carolina pursuant to Rule 5.5(2)(F) of the North Carolina Rules for Professional Conduct. Jim has family that resides in Montreat, N.C. and he has spent portions of each summer there since 1965. Jim is married and has three children. They are currently living in Black Mountain, N.C. |
