Sharon Lee Parker

 

 

Sharon  Lee Parker  is a graduate of the University of  North Carolina at Chapel Hill (B.A. in Psychology and Speech Communications, 1981) and an Honors graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill  School of Law
 ( J.D. with Honors, 1987). She is licensed in both North Carolina (1987) and Georgia (1987).    

 

Sharon is  AV-Preeminent rated by Martindale-Hubble and was  recognized in November 2010 with the Governors’
Medallion for Volunteer Service.  

 

Sharon’s practice is concentrated in the areas of Business Law [for-profit and non-profit, LLPs, Professional Corporations,  Incorporations,  Shareholder Agreements, Operating Contracts and Buy-Sale agreements, General
business Contracts, Leases and the sale or purchases of Businesses],  Estate Planning and Administration
 [Wills,  Powers of Attorney,  Health Care Directives/POA,  Trusts,  Gift/Life Estate Deeds, all aspects of  Estate
 Administration After Death and some Special Needs Planning],   Health Care Law  and  Municipal Law. For fifteen
 years, she had a trial practice defending Medical Malpractice cases.   She is Certified as a Civil Superior Court Mediator.

 

Since 1999, she has served on the Board of Directors of Lawyers Mutual Insurance Company of North Carolina, Inc. and currently serves on the Governance and Claims Committees.

 

Sharon is has held  long-term  memberships in  the American Bar Association, in the  NCBA  Sections on Litigation, Health Care Law, Dispute Resolution, Estate Planning and Administration and Corporate Law, the  North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys, the North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys, the North Carolina Association of Hospital Attorneys,  and the McDowell Bar Association. She is  the Immediate Past-President of the McDowell County Bar Association.

 

In addition to numerous small businesses and individuals, she represents the Rutherford-Polk-McDowell District Board of Health, Hospice of McDowell County, St. Luke’s HealthCare System and several professional liability  insurance carriers.

 

Since 2007, Sharon has been the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the McDowell Foundation, an affiliate of the Community Foundations of Western North Carolina, a Board upon which she has served since 2000. She has been  involved on the Grants Committee for Women For Women, an initiative  of the Community Foundations of Western North Carolina. She has served as  a Guardian Ad Litem Volunteer, on the Board of Directors of the  AGAPE House,  as Pro Bono Legal Counsel for Hospice of McDowell County, on the Marion Elementary PTO,  and served on her church Children’s Council and Parrish Staff  Committee. She has one daughter.
