Phillip joined the Dameron Burgin Law Firm in 2001. Prior to joining the firm, Phillip worked as an Assistant Attorney General for the North Carolina Department of Justice. His primary practice area is medical malpractice defense. In addition, Phillip also has an active appellate. Phillip has represented clients before the North Carolina Superior Court, the North Carolina Court of Appeals, the North Carolina Supreme Court, the United States Federal District Court in the Western and Middle Districts of North Carolina and the United States Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. 

Phillip is a graduate of North Carolina State University (B.A. 1991, cum laude) and the University of North Carolina School of Law (J.D. 1994, The Order of Barristers). 

Phillip is a is a member of the American Bar Association, the North Carolina Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, and the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys. Phillip is Co-Chair of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Litigation Council Legislative Committee and serves on the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorney.
