Aaron is a native of McDowell County. He is a graduate of Appalachian State University (B.S. 2001, cum laude) and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law (J.D. 2004). He has worked at the Dameron Burgin Law Firm since he was admitted to the North Carolina State Bar in the fall of 2004 and became a partner of the firm in January 2011.  He was also admitted to the Western and Middle District of the United States District Court for North Carolina.

He is a member of the American Bar Association, the North Carolina Bar Association, the Family Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association, and the McDowell County Bar Association.
